Wexford Races

Wexford Racecourse is a left-handed, oval-shaped Irish horse racing venue in County Wexford. The track used to be run the other way around (right-handed) and host flat action but, from May 2016 onwards, has only had National Hunt races over jumps at it.

There is one black type race here, the M. W. Hickey Memorial Chase over almost three miles for intermediate steeplechasers in October.

There are no Wexford races in the winter, with the track used during the other parts of the year.

A circuit of the course is a mile-and-a-quarter, making it fairly sharp but it does undulate. The run-in from the final flight of hurdles or fence is less than a furlong.

Wexford Race Tips

Paul Townend was the leading rider at Wexford Racecourse in the five seasons from 2015-16 to 2019-20, steering 17 horses to victory on a 29 per cent strike rate.
Townend is stable jockey to Willie Mullins, who was top trainer at Wexford races in the same period after saddling 25 horses to victory with a 36 per cent success ratio.
