Warwick Races

Warwick Racecourse is a popular course that stages good-quality jumps racing throughout the winter.

Warwick races sharp turns and undulations make it a challenging left-handed course to jump, and the five fences in quick succession in the back straight make for spectacular viewing as a race approaches its climax.

The two biggest races are the long-distance Classic Chase in January, won in 2017 by subsequent Grand National winner One For Arthur, and February’s two-mile Kingmaker Chase, which often provides a pointer to the Arkle at Cheltenham.

Warwick Races Tips

Prolific trainer Dan Skelton is based only a few miles from Warwick Racecourse, so it’s no surprise that he and his jockey brother Harry Skelton team up for numerous winners at the course.
Neil Mulholland and Nicky Henderson also have decent strike rates at Warwick races. Nico de Boinville is the man to watch in the saddle.
Look for nippy ex-flat racing horses, especially in hurdle races - they will be far more able to cope with the bends and undulations around the course.

Warwick Racecourse is a brilliant chase track to ride! The back straight is a little bit like the railway fences at Sandown and the fences come frequently and quickly. On the whole it’s a flat track but it does climb to a high point before swinging downhill (there are no fences there though). The last jump has a sharp bend and then you kick off a bit like a ski slope before it flattens out again.

If you get the fences down the back straight right it’s such great fun, but if you’re not quite getting them right then you’re out of the race in a blink of an eye. On the hurdles track you wouldn’t mind running a midfield horse round there, you always feel like you have time. They also have the Classic Chase there which is great fun to ride in!
