Tipperary Races

Tipperary Racecourse is a left-handed, tight, oval-shaped Irish horse racing venue outside the town of the same name in County Tipperary.

Lying between Limerick and Clonmel, the sharp track hosts both National Hunt action over jumps and flat races between April and October. Famous Tipperary races include the Grade 3 Grimes Hurdle over the summer and Group 3 Concorde Stakes during a mixed card in the autumn.

A full circuit of the track is about a mile-and-a-quarter, but there is also a chute for flat sprints. This course suits speedier types of horse in both codes with a run-in of an extended quarter of a mile.

Tipperary Races Tips

Over jumps at Tipperary Racecourse, there are three active jockeys who have distinguished themselves in the five seasons between 2015-16 and 2019-20. Rachael Blackmore rode the most winners with 14, but Paul Townend and Patrick Mullins posted better strike rates of 26 per cent and 47 per cent respectively. The latter’s father Willie Mullins was top trainer, saddling 26 horses to victory at a 41 per cent success rate.
Colin Keane and Billy Lee were the top flat jockeys still riding in the five years from 2016 to 2020, both operating at a 15 per cent strike rate in the saddle. Keane rode five more winners (22) than Lee (17).
Aidan O’Brien was the top trainer at Tipperary races, sending 29 horses out from Ballydoyle to win at a 31 per cent strike rate.
