Goodwood Racecourse is a right-handed British horse racing venue on the Goodwood Estate in Sussex. Used only for flat events, it is best known for the five-day Glorious Goodwood Festival over the summer. Goodwood races range in distance, from sprints over five furlongs, right up to stayers’ events over two-and-a-half miles.
The track is one of the most unique in the UK. Rather than be run on a traditional oval, Goodwood Racecourse events happen in an arc-shape unless they are longer than a mile-and-a-half. The run into the home straight is sharply downhill.
Feature Group 1 Goodwood races today include the two-mile Goodwood Cup, Sussex Stakes over a mile and Nassau Stakes for fillies and mares over a mile-and-a-quarter.
