Fairyhouse Races

Fairyhouse Racecourse is a right-handed oblong shaped horse racing venue in Ratoath, County Meath, Ireland. Best known as the home of the Irish Grand National on Easter Monday, it hosts National Hunt and flat horse races under rules, and there is a point to point course, too. Whatever code the Fairyhouse races that horses are running in, the track best suits strong travelling and galloping types.

This testing course is about a mile-and-three-quarters for a full circuit with an uphill climb to Ballyhack in the back straight and for the last three furlongs. It is better for chasers to be close-up jumping the final fence.

There are five Grade 1s held here and Fairyhouse Racecourse is used for most of the year. As well as the Easter Festival, there is a Winter Festival at this track, too.

Fairyhouse Races Tips

Over jumps, Davy Russell has the best record of any active jockey competing at Fairyhouse Racecourse over the five seasons between 2015-16 and 2019-20. He has ridden 44 winners at the track in that time at a 24 per cent strike rate.
Willie Mullins is the top trainer at Fairyhouse in National Hunt races over the same period with a 20 per cent win ratio (66/336), although Gordon Elliott had more winners from greater a number of runners (84/553).
On the flat, Colin Keane has been the rider to follow. In the five years from 2015 to 2019, he rode 17 horses to victory – five more than any other jockey.
Ger Lyons trained the same number of winners at a 17 per cent strike rate in Fairyhouse races making him the top handler in that time.
