The Winter Festival at Newbury Racecourse hosts three days of racing action in late November to get you in the mood for the festive season and the upcoming Christmas national hunt meetings. Featuring hurdle and national hunt races from Class 3 to Class 1, from Grade 1 to Grade 3, Newbury's Winter Festival celebrates all aspects of the jump racing culture. Whether it is the newcomers to the track or the proven legends of the sport - the Winter Festival welcomes the finest hurdlers and steeplechasers of the season and provides a fixture for them.
Day one warms things up by presenting the rising stars of the scene, be it the equine novices or the conditional jockeys. This is the perfect day to stake out new talents for the coming seasons; and it stages seven races:
Day two, the Gentlemen's Day, puts a pleasant spin on the much-trialled tradition of the Ladies' Day during multiple day racing festivals. While the second day of the Winter Festival does feature all the entertaining trimmings we traditionally associate with the Ladies' Day, it also offers a Best Dressed Gentleman Competition, which ensures plenty of good looking men to feast your eye on.
